What is CCS?
Carbon Capture and Storage
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is a process that removes carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) from industry operations and stores it deep underground to prevent it from entering the atmosphere. Once removed from energy processes, the carbon is transported through secure pipelines to the storage location. Did you know there are currently more than 5,000 miles of pipeline across the U.S. that safely transport CO2 every day?CO2 is then moved far underground in impermeable rock formations – structures that have stored crude oil, natural gas, brine, and carbon dioxide for millions of years.

Hundreds of thousands of Louisiana workers and small businesses rely on a thriving energy industry in our state. By investing in CCS technology and infrastructure, we can secure a thriving economy for future generations.
